I had an issue with my HMH Standard holding any hook size 6 or larger. Called HMH and they had me send it back. Few weeks later I got it back with a brand new set of jaws. Call them. I'm sure they will make it right. edit. I guess I did it all via e-mail

"the major difference being that the vise's head is a bit shorter and more compact" from the HMH site. The base looks smaller on the Spartan too.

HMH Standard and old 2 screw Traveler. I do have all 3 jaws for the HMH. Both are fine tools.

Hobby Lobby. Amazing amount of floss colors. All multi stand so you gotta separate. I have high hopes for the metallic stuff.

Name a famous fly that has not been so famous with you !

Sacrilege for a Mainer but the Grey Ghost is a loser for me. Nothing casting and nothing trolling. -
Seems to me if you are going to be a fly tyer then you need to be able to tie a Catskill style dry. I'd start with a Wullf style hairwing. Kip is cheeper to screw up than wood duck. JMHO

Gotta disagree. Get a rotary, learn to use it, and you will never go back to fixed. Makes many tasks much easier. JMHO UMMV

Is there value in obtaining your materials from the wild?

Beaver, whitetail, black bear, duck and partridge are what I have in stuff that was harvested by friends. Borax and salt will cure anything. Just be sure you are vermin free before you put with your other stuff. I whine and beg for wood duck to all my friends come the season. A prime male woody will make a tier smile for months. Before the problems with the hackers I could log into the Classics forum with my same password and username as I use here. Now I can't. Anyway to fix it so I can have my same username here and there? tia
