Papa Baske 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2017 A couple of green highlanders. Beautiful Eide. What is the blue thing at top of the wing? It looks yellow on the back when you look at the one on the off side. Assassin V Black Peacock Herl and Dark Olive Ostrich Herl with Mallard Legs Tungsten Bead and leaded abdomen Kimo That thing is just awesome. And it looks mean on the black background. Mind telling a little about the camera gear?

Papa Baske 0 Report post Posted November 15, 2017 Its macaw fibres from tail feather. Blue or red on one side and yellow on other. I thought so, but wasn't sure. Reminded me of something i have seen in one of McPhail's videos

dflanagan 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2017 Just finished up this sculpin and somehow broke the eye of the hook while clearing it with a bodkin. Drove the bodkin into my thumb. And I was pretty happy with the little thing, too. Nice work, everyone. Lots of good stuff this month.
chugbug27 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2017 Thanks Frn & Pd, not clear if the antenna is a trigger or not, but I think they're cool in any event

mikechell 0 Report post Posted November 16, 2017 Caddis pupa (Mcphail var.) Very nice. I agree with your previous comment ... those antennae are cool! Just finished up this sculpin and somehow broke the eye of the hook while clearing it with a bodkin. Drove the bodkin into my thumb. And I was pretty happy with the little thing, too. Nice work, everyone. Lots of good stuff this month. I've heard of people breaking hook points off while mashing the barb. This, however, is the first time I've heard of anyone, in any situation, breaking the hook EYE off. Too bad, too ... it's a good looking fly.
