  1. That looks like a pretty good egg pattern. How has it worked for you?
  2. No worries Pelhament. They don't have to be cosmetically beautiful, just a good makeshift fly. Everything that comes in is going to be great. I had a young fellow back a few swaps, I sent a shoe brush to. He was horrified, but came up with some pretty fair cased caddis, not pretty but functional, that is what this is all about.
  3. Make sure you keep all of the extras from me!!
  4. Thanks for the update guys! VTFLYHACK your package arrived safely. You folks are going to be amazed at his little streamers, they are great! So far the flies are looking way cool!

    Cool find

I used to have the same book when I was a little kid. I got it from my mom because I was interested in the flies I packaged for a local commercial tyer. It is nice to see they can still be found.
  6. Looking good Oatka. The thing with Coachmen is that it sort of brings out the artist in folks, so you get different plays with hackle densities and colouration etc. Yours looks like you need to take it fishing!!
  7. You're welcome Bryan. I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I was worried you might send the cat after me if you didn't.
  8. VT I would think they will be here this week. No worries I will let you know. Everybody else, there is 5 days to go before you need to have dropped them in the mail, let me know if there are any problems....Kerry
  9. Nice job! It looks like a Zara Spook (sp?). I haven't tied with that material yet, will have to give it a shot...
  10. At the risk of hijacking the thread, I did not specify asian countries and I believe that child labor in this and many other products is far worse than you think. Nuff said here on my part.
  11. Great pattern. I would think this will catch anything that has ever seen a stonefly....The angle of the picture doesn't show the clearance to the hook point? Is it pretty open?
  12. It might not hurt to look at who is tying the flies overseas. I know that some countries are using child labour....that is paying children very little in countries where they do not have to hire adults. That is a whole discussion in itself, but worth looking at. Do they use child slave labour (different yet again from child labour) as some chocolate plantations do? Thus the formation of WCF to promote using non-slave labour. Flies are a narrow profit margin item so I would think that it is likely they are largely tied by children, I know that some are for sure, just not sure what other countries they are tied in so can't say that about all of them. Anyway, just another point of view....Kerry
  13. Got mine today Justin! Thanks for hosting this great swap and thanks to everyone who tied for it, a nice bunch of flies!
  14. Great pics! I just got mine today and I know they are all going to work.
  15. I'm tying a sequel pattern called......wait for it.....The "D" Cup.
  16. That looks pretty good to me as well. I think the things that need to be emphasized have been and the materials are great. Nice pattern.
  17. Thanks Stu!! Just updating the information. I received the midge jaws in the mail here a few days ago. They are a pretty standard type of jaw, with the tension knob at the opposite end. Again there is little effort required to tighten a hook in place, but they are indeed for smaller hooks as is suggested. I like the fact I can keep one head on one end and the other head on the opposite end.
  18. If that is the Woolly Shrimp, would you let me know how it works for you if you use it this year??
  19. I've noticed a similarity between alot of the Irish fly patterns. I like the look of this one, as I sort of subscribe to the Polly Rosenborough philosophy, when you think it is fuzzy enough, you're about half way there. How do you fish this? Presentation wise I mean. Hope to see more like this and maybe a step by step series of photos in the submission? Nice job.....Kerry
  20. I made a couple. The one has 36 compartments and I have another with 10 and a third that is half full with another 10 full compartments. I also put labels on the lid with the colour and make, so I can replace it accurately. If you do drill holes in these a high speed drill is better than most of the cordless drills as the slower speed bit tends to damage the plastic too much.
  21. I think you take what you need and give what you want. If something in the paper bugs me, or something that should be in the paper bugs me, I write a letter (the Canadian thing to do). If I am looking at something here out of curiosity, why post anything unless I have something constructive to add to it? This site gets alot more posts and replies than many others and it all seems pretty good. I don't think 400 posts saying "Thanks I was just curious," would mean much, whereas a couple of posts that add or embellish another could be far more useful. Sure it makes sense, just as much sense as reading a novel and not writing to the author, just enjoying the work....My 2cents Canadian worth.
  22. I feel your pain. Water is hard here and it is supposed to be freezing rain tonight with snow again tomorrow. When I retire, I'm strapping a snowshovel to my truck and driving south until someone says "Hey what's that for?"
  23. Got mine yesterday they look great!! Thanks for trying to make this thing work!!
  24. No problem. I hope flyfishingtaz knows he has friends here and I for one will pray for him. Please do not send any of my flies back to me either if there are any extra.
  25. I went to a Tandy Leather shop. They were selling suede scraps for .25 an ounce, so I bought a bunch of it.
