  1. As they say, still beats a good day at the shop.
  2. That's a very nice box. I have seen a very few of those for sale on various auction sites, I do not believe the company is around anymore. Orvis sold a deluxe version, with the original manufacturer's name on it, but with upgraded wood, brass fittings, and felt lined trays. I have no idea of the original price. If your Mom purchased it in a small shop, it may have been made somewhat locally. Hopefully someone else with be of more help.
  3. Sometimes its just nice being out there on the water. Sounds like a good day to me.
  4. Fun to do when I can catch and photograph a bug and take it home to look it up, but when the fish are rising and my brother asks what I'm throwing, the answer is: 'Small and yellow!'
  5. Got some great additions to the panfish box yesterday - thank you Darrell for hosting and all who participated.
  6. Nice pictures, hard to choose a winner in that group.
  7. Great photos, great report, as always. Thanks for posting
  8. Thanks for that great link๐Ÿ‘
  9. +1 At the risk of sounding obsequious, add inspiring
  10. Nice fish, DF, sounds like a great hour on the water. Thanks for the report. I had the same multi-hatch situation you describe on the stream a few weeks ago, with a few small caddis thrown into the mix, but there was absolutely no top water activity from the trouts. Yellow sallies I always thought referred to yellow stones. The other mayflies you mention I just refer by size and color when I'm fishing. We all know the fish don't care much beyond size and general color, though you'd never know it looking at my fly boxes.
  11. All's clear in West Virginia, by God
  12. Very nice gift he'll cherish more as the years go on. Sounds like he's already figured out the secret to success.
  13. Very useful chart. My local shop has the equivalent Tiemco # on his 'house' brand of hooks.
  14. Very thick just crossing the Hudson. Odd
  15. That is me. I would like to apologize to the other swappers for my tardiness. Once again, I had my flies finished early, and completely whiffed getting them in on time. The last two weeks have been crazy here between traveling outside my normal area for work, 2 daughters graduating on the same week-end, getting one ready to move to CA, scheduling 24/7 care for my elderly parents with my siblings while balancing the start of summer get-aways between us all, its been a real madhouse. I sometimes wonder if Summer is worth all the hustle and bustle that comes with it. Off to West Virginia in two days for my youngest daughter's college orientation - ha ha. If only there was time to wet a fly. In any case, they are now on their way and should arrive by the end of the week.
  16. Nice, best way to spend lunch.
