March Flies From the Vise

hook: mustard 9672 sz 8

thread: body rust brown uni 8/0, head 150D black GSP

tail and wing: modelled(ozark) turkey 

body and under wing: gold Krystal flash 

midwing: grey squirrel

head: deer body fur

It’s a tricky one to tie and there a few headed to the cull pile for sure. I learned it’s best to cement that wing in place before tying in the head, eventually

Twisted Skwala

Hook - TMC 200R, size 6 or substitute

Thread - Black

Butt - 2mm black foam strip

Body - 2 strands of fine golden yarn and 4 long peacock herls twisted together

Wing - Natural brown bucktail

Legs - Barred rubber legs

Abdomen - Golden yellow dubbing

Head - 2mm black foam

Sighter - Fluorescent orange egg yarn or substitute

Another Muddler

I started tying muddlers based on a Charlie Craven method.   Been working on the pattern a few days now and after seeing some Don Galen originals I thought I should do some a little bigger and sparser through the head and collar.  I’m thinking these will get down in the water a little quicker too.  Flipped the wing to change the profile but I’m not sure which version I prefer.
