mikechell 0 Report post Posted July 10, 2016 With a trip to Maryland coming up on the 17th, I am starting to tie a few extra flies to take. On the flip side, my good camera decided to die, which is why I haven't posted any pictures for a few weeks. Here's the best shot I can get with my existing (not good) camera. Generic streamer ... trying something different. All materials are from FTD except the christmas tinsel tail and the thread, which is from the sewing box. Way too high a price to pay to catch some fish.

mikechell 0 Report post Posted July 11, 2016 No, Retro. There's no weight, other than the hook, even the eyes are plastic bead chain. The head is Congo hair dubbing brush, trimmed into a round head. I am not sure what pattern it is similar to, but I want it to swim just under the surface on a fast pull, and to slowly sink on the stop.

Will K 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2016 Hi Mike. I'm curious. How do you get the hair to "squish" down below the eyes. Almost looks like you pinch it? Or, are those barbell eyes and the hair naturally does that? Great looking fly! Will My favorite "do all" fly. Been tying it for probably around 25+ years in this color,Yellow & Chartreuse. Weighted and Unweighted. From 1" - 6" + Catches everything that swims.
Mike West 0 Report post Posted July 12, 2016 Thx They are "living eyes" color Ice If I remember correctly. I shave the head flat on the sides with a razor blade then burn a hole for the eyes and glue with either Epoxy or Goop Make sense?
