Christmas swap knife

08 November 2019 - 03:27 PM

Got started working on it on a bit this morning and figured I would post pictures of thr build progress. I decided to do a chef's/kitchen knife this year, I was going to do a smaller 5 inch blade but ended up with a 6.5 inch. I'm still trying to decide on handle colors and materials if anyone who plans to participate in the raffle has requests let me know. For you non-US people I went with a kitchen knife partly so that you could participate if desired without customs becoming an issue.

Here's the first picture the blade steel is 15n20 high carbon which is what I use in all my non stainless kitchen knives, as it has decent rust resistance fo to thr high nickel content and takes a very fine sharp edge.

Flytire is this your truck?

Florida mid September

13 August 2019 - 03:11 PM

So we've got a trip planned for Florida mid-end of September. I'm planning on bringing my 8 at fly rod and a spinning rod or 2 planning on fishing as much as possible, we may rent a boat 1 day to do some inshore fishing on the coast. Wondering what gear I should bring.

fly fishing the northern ca coast

20 February 2019 - 09:08 PM

We take a trip to the Mendocino coast every year, we usually do some surf fishing while we're there with traditional tackle mostly we catch surf perch last year the beach where we are changed a good bit and it has kind of created a sand bar protected area and we caught some small striper as well. I'm planning on bringing my 8 wt this year and trying some fly fishing I caught a few using standard tackle with a baitfish fly I tied up after cleaning a surf perch so I plan to use those again but I was wondering if there were any other patterns I should try as well, techniques would be helpful as well I have a floating titan taper and full sinking outbound short lines for my 8wt.
