December Flies From the Vise

Recommended Posts

@Sandan, thanks.

The hackle is starling.  The wings are a white tipped starling feather, tied in with the tip pointing rearward, and then the hackle is wound and tied off. The palmered ones are just one starling feather, essentially a Stewart's spider. They can be pretty productive at times on my rivers.

Trying glass beads...👍.   Ever heard of McgintyPopper

Thanks, denduke.  I like using glass bead because they're inexpensive and easy to get.  On my bigger, heavier flies, though, they have a tendency to break, especially when fishing fast water. IMG-20201216-071303.jpg

Nice McGinty Popper, the panfish here in Massachusetts love the winged wet version.

I don't think I've ever tied a fly I'm 100% happy with.
