  2. Sorry to hear about your BIL. I know your family has had a ROUGH year. Heres hoping that 2020 will be a better year. Happy Holidays!
  3. Very nicely done! I'm sure Mike will be along directly to tell you how awesome the Blue trim is.
  4. Thanks Captain Bob, That gives me a starting point. Again, I appreciate the help!!!
  5. Ok, So that makes the spools I have from an Anti Reverse model then. Thanks for all of the help!!
  6. That looks like it would be fun to drive
  7. These spools aren't the wedding cake variety. They are the spools for the second generation anti reverse (I think). I'm not sure if the direct drive and anti reverse spools are the same or not. I'm really trying to determine which size Fin Nor these are for.
  8. Thanks, I already have an email into the Fin Nor site. A week and no response. I also have an email into the Antique Reel site as well. I emailed them Friday. The ORCA online is somewhere I hadn't found in my search. I will chase that down as well. Reel Talk I have contacte as well. Thanks for the info!!
  9. I have ,in my possession 3 spare spools from what I believe to be Fin Nor #3 Fly reel. The reel is MIA from the stash of Rods/Reels My Dad had before he passed. I'm looking for a Fin Nor expert to verify what I have to see exactly what reel these spools are for and an idea of their value. I know Fin Nors like this aren't made anymore, but someone might be able to put these to use. Any info or an idea of someone to contact would be really helpful. Thanks
  10. Here is a link to the NC Wildlife resource Commission that will give a where, when and how much for a license question. Trout can be had in NC as long as things aren't frozen up. https://www.ncwildlife.org/
  11. I'm working on some special flies for "Casting For Recovery",which is a charity that sets up retreats for women that have Breast Cancer,or have survived Breast Cancer. I had an aunt that died a couple of years ago that was the bravest person I ever had the honor of knowing. In her lifetime, she fought cancer on 5 different occasions before passing due to Brain Cancer. Her first 2 bouts of cancer were Breast Cancer and in the 70's Breast Cancer wasn't as treatable as it is now. Anyway. Breast Cancer Awareness has always been near and dear to my heart, due to my Aunt. I sat and tried to figure out a special fly for the Casting For Recovery portion of this donation,so...... Pink Maribou and Crystal Flash tail,Pink Mop body, a spun Deer Hair head and a piece of Pink Chenille tied on to represent a Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon all tied on a #2 Mustad SS hook.
  12. I expect you could use a .357 or.44 caliber shell casing to punch the eyes out and a .22 casing for the pupils. That would eliminate the need to buy a set of punches,if you didn't already have them. It would be a fun project to make them, but,as mentioned, eyes are pretty dang cheap.
  13. NC is really strict about seat belt usage. they run "Click It or Ticket" roadblocks all of the time. If a state trooper, sheriff or police officer sees you with no belt on,any time, you get a ticket,Period
  14. A couple of Teton 8wt reels. A couple of new hoodies Some new warm boot socks A Regal Medallion vice I'll end up with the socks and hoodies, but will get the other stuff, myself, during the course of the year.
  15. Fur Lined Mad Bomber hat. I use that in the coldest weather while duck hunting.
  16. I've got 4 and counting. 2, 3wts 2,5wts..the 8 Wts are next
  17. Tie it to a zinger and use it for one helluva cool nail knot tool Not a bad idea, although it does have a sharp point and a bit of a barb. I might have to modify it a bit..ha ha
  18. I am definitely keeping it. I'll figure out something to do with it
  19. Ok, So, Monday, I went by the local fly/kayak/outdoor store that's not too far from me. They occasionally buy flies from me and I went to see if they needed more flies and to pick up a couple of boxes of hooks. I picked up a box of 25 count Mustad SS #2 hooks to tie some new Bass flies that I have been working on. The shop needed no more flies until after February due to decreased demand and inventory. I made my purchase and headed home, excited about having more hooks to get these flies done. I get home and open the package and I have two "hooks" that really didn't qualify as hooks. One was completely straight and the other was bent in the wrong place. I had seen this before, but never on a SS hook. I decided to call Mustad to report this,in case this was a widespread problem. I counted the hooks and the proper amount were in the box, plus the funky ones. I talked to a nice guy that explained that sometimes the culls make it into boxes despite efforts to keep them out. I told him it wasn't any big deal, but, I figured they might want to know in case it was an issue they needed to handle. He asked me for my address so he could send me some replacements. Again I told him that it wasn't necessary, but he still wanted my address. Today, UPS drops off a box that contained not only a FULL, 50 count box of replacement hooks, but a nice Mustad Hat as well. Thats some good customer service in my eyes!!!!!!!
  20. Those brown wraps look nice and I'm not normally a fan of brown trimming
  21. Have a buddy that had a Bassett. His name was Earl. Earl was the MOST laid back dog I've ever seen...Congrats!
  22. My mind is on my driving at all times. I do not make moves that impede another's motion. Well, I don't do that unless it's a warranted action, like taking my foot off the gas when someone's on my bumper. Or turning my brights on when someone cuts me off. My hate is anger-less ... but my actions are carefully calculated. THIS!!!!
