Simple fly by Phil Rowley with acrylic shell. Not entirely smooth back.

One other thought: Many commercial flies are overdressed. They are tied to catch the fisherman. Some are tied on crappy hooks, twist on the hook, etc. If you tie them yourself, you can tie them like you want them. It takes time to get the proportions correct and to gain the skills needed, though. Few flies are perfect.

The best way to top water fish. Great for Bass, Bream, etc. I also have caught a number of Channel Catfish.

The list of furs is endless. Experiment. For dying AK Best book is the Bible, so to speak. Be sure you rid the fur of vermin by freezing and microwave.

I have had the pleasure of being guided by Brian Sylvie, who developed this fly. Beautiful tie.

I recently tried to send a package of flies for a swap (hopper dropper), and got a nasty surprise. The flies were mailed to go 30 miles, but were returned to me a month later, stamped as being a potential threat. You are not allowed to mail a package over one half inch thick without going into the post office and declaring that it doesn't contain unsafe items. They have to stamp it. This rule is inconsistently applied, but we need to mail our packages inside the post office. We are not allowed to just apply postage and drop it in the box. Otherwise, we must use a box inside less than 1/2 inch thick to mail flies.

Or having them lost by USPS. Never put them in a drop box. -
Thanks for posting

One of the first ties I ever attempted, based on Trey Combs description. I fished the Kalama a couple weeks ago.

Nice jigs. What is the orange center?

I like this fly. Nice colors

That is true. Being able to do surgery or tie flies doesn't cross over.

I have a CVA .45 cal that a friend made. I am left eye dominant and shoot mostly left handed with a rifle, right with a bow. Do surgery and tie right handed. I am almost ambidextrous. Cannot write very legibly with either hand.

I just got new arrows with feather fetching and some kudu point broadleaf. I have somewhat bought in to the Ed Ashby single bevel heavy tip broadleaf. I am only going up to 150 grains. -
Thanks. I hope your sister gets well quickly.
