flytire 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2022 Bruce Springsteen fans face $5,000 tickets - and a 'crisis of faith' (yahoo.com) Not in my remaining lifetime
The Mad Duck 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2022 No F'ing way. I saw him in the 70's for $12 a ticket. I saw Led Zeppelin for $8 the first time I saw them and $12 the second time I saw them. I saw the Stones in their heyday for $10. I would't pay that kind of money to see a resurected Jimi Hendrix (even though I saw him open for the Monkees) These "artists" are asking too much money for tickets these days and most of them spout off politics during their shows...NOPE
RickZieger 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2022 Goggle his name and you can see a picture for nothing. Back to my hole. Rick
mikechell 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2022 Nope. His music's okay ... but I wouldn't go see him in a concert even if they paid me $5000.00. I always have to laugh when people play or listen to "Born in the U.S.A." and think it's pro-American.
saltydancindave 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2022 Girls around the block just got 2 tickets for $4,000 each as they used to live in the New Jersey neighborhood where they attended impromptu practice sessions blocks away. Was told if tickets went to $15K were going to sell. Never attended one of his concerts, but from PBS shows look like they are probably a good event. Poopdeck 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2022 I’m with Mike, I wouldn’t go see Bruce Springsteen if he paid me 5K. I’d hold out until he paid me 10K. I have been to the stone pony in Asbury Park which is actually a great place to go for dinner and drinks, Asbury park that is, the stone pony is a crap hole. They did I really nice job breathing life back into Asbury park.
niveker 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2022 I have no desire to be in an any space with that many people anymore, no matter who is there or where it is. And I have no desire to see any aged entertainer, who was popular 30 or more years ago, perform live on stage. I don't get that at all. I would go if someone paid me $5000. I'd sneak out the back first chance I got.

Bryon Anderson 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2022 I don't know that artists really have that much control over ticket prices. Not every ticket is $5000, either. And no matter at what price tickets start, it's supply and demand that drives the prices up. Just like in saltydancindave's post -- what people resell tickets for is completely out of the artist's or even the promoter's hands. So here's a question: is there anyone--any performer, speaker, athlete, whatever--that you would pay $5000 to see? I can't personally think of one -- even if I had $5000 to throw around. I think I'd be looking at used boats, not celebrity experiences.

Steeldrifter 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2022 I have never paid more than $35 for a concert ticket in my lifetime (last one I went too was prob 25yrs ago, was The Black Crow's opening for ZZ Top) and I never would pay more than that. For Bruce Springsteen.....I wouldn't even walk across the street to see him if it were free.

The problem in this case is Ticketmaster, which is using something called "dynamic pricing" which means that as demand goes up, so does the price, often multiple times per day. They are in effect doing the scalping themselves and cutting out the middle man.

This may be so,BUT, if the artist had issues with pre scalped, overinflated pricing for their tickets, they could distribute without using ticketbastard
