I'm a bit more partial to "Fearless" on Meddle. I like all of their stuff, but Animals is hands down my favorite.

My Sons first river trip!
The Mad Duck replied to McFlyLures's topic in Fly Fishing Gear & Techniques
Let the boy discover the hook set on his own. When he has that moment of realization that.."Thats how it works", you will have a true angler on your hands. -
ohhhhh..Purty!!!

Very nice!! It almost has an industrial look with that reel seat
-
Very Cool...Love the reel seat

I had something similar happen to me, sort of. I went to work for a large company and when the admin person entered my SS#,she transposed the middle 2 numbers. After I filed my taxes the following year, I got a cease and desist letter from the the guy,who owned the SS# that my taxes had been filed under. It took almost a year to get the IRS off of my back and get my taxes corrected. It was my fault for not checking the SS# that was on the check, but I just really didn't think about it since they had a copy of my SS card on file.

I made something very similar to that. It's like trying to cast a leaf,BUT, they look great once in the water.
-
I dunno, I'd be worried about being able to set the hook with that set up.😎

Here are a couple of fairly recent ones. I wish I could figure out how to trim them so they look the same, I'd be happier with them.

I wonder what kind of action that fly would have if the foam was on the bottom like a lip, or if it would just turn the fly upside down?

I think we have ALL been in the drink at one point in time or another. A buddy and I went fishing once. I dropped the boat in the water and went to park the truck as my buddy tied the boat up to the dock. I walked down to the boat and went to step onto the back of the boat. He had only tied the front of the boat up. I did the classic one foot on the boat, and one on the dock split and ended up in the water, dropping 3 rods as I went in. Fortunately, it was summer time and warm and the water was shallow,so we retrieved the rods and off we went. I was mostly dry by the time we got to our first stop,

I know that boat is made by Jackson Kayaks. I have a Jackson Big Rig and really like my boat. Form the looks of the boat, its a wide pontoon platform which would make it stable. My only concern would be the platform connecting the hulls separating from the hulls. I dont know if that has been an issue or not,but that would be my only concern. It looks very well equipped and a 360 degree swivel seat would make it very fishable

We caught a tagged Blue Marlin in the Cayman Islands years ago. The funny thing was, It had been tagged off of NC, which is where I live

So sorry for your loss. My brother committed suicide 10 years ago and not a day goes by where I don't think about what I could have done to help him, Peace Be His Journey!

I have people not show up EVERY day. I'm an employment recruiter. I scratch my head every day when people dont show up for work or an interview. I think people are just getting complacent with the handouts they are getting from the goobermint. No need to work when other peoples money supports you.

Whats your story? Who got you into Fly fishing?
The Mad Duck replied to Pbass's topic in Fly Fishing Gear & Techniques
It was my Dad. He taught me early on as a kid. I enjoyed it ,but, wasn't really proficient and found spin fishing a bit more suitable to my abilities. I kept practicing and getting better. Once he encouraged me to start tying,It all kind of fell into place. I still carry a spinning rod with me when I fish out of the kayak, but 99% of the time, it is just there and never used. -
Heck yea, I'd use it and not feel one bit guilty. The way I see it is, if I tied it and it works...Its a successful fly. Who gets to decide what's a "fair" fly to use anyway?

Influential fly tyer past or present !
The Mad Duck replied to Moshup's topic in The Fly Tying Bench
He may not have been an influence on anyone but me, but...My Dad. I know the guys that were an influence on hie were Lefty Kreh,Dave Whitlock and Bob Clouser. He had the honor of fishing with Lefty Kreh for Striped Bass in the annual Striper run on the Roanoke River in NC. -
Hummmmm. I do not have a PC bone in my body. I am what people call an equal opportunity offender. 😎
